Project description

Sand produced a fair amount of work for the administration of Boston Mayor Kevin H. White. These images are from an exhibit of contemporary Irish visual artists that ran in Boston City Hall from April 12-May 5, 1972. The exhibit featured 71 works produced between 1959 and 1971 by 22 artists.

In an otherwise tepid review at the time, the Boston Globe described the exhibit as “rewarding to Boston Irish as a look at their country in a contemporary light, as well as to other viewers genuinely interested in discovering the genesis of a new language in painting.”

Michael’s role in curation and/or exhibit graphics is unknown.
